Queensland Lens, founded by QUT's Journalism Network in 2025, aims to publish student journalism covering a diverse range of topics and issues from across the state. The project was kickstarted with a vision to place student and graduate work in the spotlight, in the hopes to help advance their careers and get them noticed early within the industry.
Queensland Lens is an independent, grassroots publication that consists of a small team of volunteer journalists and editors from a diverse range of backgrounds who dedicate their time to producing quality, localised and state-based news for our audiences. The publication boasts extensive coverage of numerous topics including sports, entertainment, political, state, and local stories.
Queensland Lens transcends the barriers of normal news sites by producing stories across a variety of multimedia formats, including vox pops, radio & TV packages, written articles, photojournalism, and videos.

Editor-in-Chief & Founder
Lauren Bartholomew
Lauren Bartholomew is a final-year journalism student at QUT who loves nothing more than reading a penguin classic with a mocha in hand. Now the president of QUTJN, Lauren previously worked at 4ZZZ Radio as a journalist & host for nearly two years, and has interned at ABC News Queensland. With a keen ear for local stories, Lauren's works have covered state politics, environmental & LGBTQIA+ issues, and Brisbane's live music scene. She is very excited to be working amongst these talented journalists.

Angela Aliaga
Angela Aliaga is a third-year student at QUT, studying a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism) and a Bachelor of Business (Public Relations). Angela is a multi-faceted individual who enjoys spending her free time indulging in society and culture, sustainable fashion, and beauty. She deeply values the development and wellbeing of communities, investigating taboo topics, and is passionate about worldwide equity, social justice, and peace.

Grace Cameron
As an editor at Queensland Lens, Grace Cameron is fiercely dedicated to independent and local news. Grace is a recent QUT journalism graduate, former copywriter and radio journalist whose interests include the live music scene, taboo subjects and investigative reporting. Grace is ecstatic to be working alongside a group of dedicated journalists who are similarly passionate about not only local news but giving aspiring journalists a voice and opportunity to share their work.

Aaron Bell
Aaron is a QUT graduate and finance journalist currently working for The Motley Fool and NerdWallet Australia. He is passionate about building up Queensland Lens as an independent platform for young journalists to share their work. In his spare time, Aaron enjoys pursuing his passion of documentary film and my love of surfing.
